Finito, finale, done, dusted, out-of-here

That's it! We're done. Our final show was a blast, with the best of the best of our Four Plays of the last 15 months. In our opinion anyway.

Thank you to everyone who has ever supported, listened, SMS's, emailed, joined the facebook group, complained, or
in any other way interacted with the show.

We have loved bringing you Four Play every week on JOY 94.9.

And a BIG BIG thank you to all our friends and listeners who gav
e up their time to add a very special dimension to the show by being our guests and subjecting yourselves to our inane, ill informed comments and amateurish interviewing styles. You were ALL SO GREAT!

Program Highlights for Tuesday 10th February, 2009

We started the show with "9 to 5" from Dolly Parton tonight, but a bit of a different mix. It's the "LTI" mix out of the UK mid last year and great little freshen up of a camp classic! Thanks to Dennis and Dick from A Touch of Pink (7pm - 9pm Saturdays on JOY 94.9) for lending us this one.

Don't forget FOUR PLAY is going OFF THE AIR at the end of the JOY summer season. Only two shows to get your fix of Four Play, so keep on tuning in!

To this weeks show and first up this week our guest was Sherryl. A long time listener of JOY, FourPlay and more recently a dedicated volunteer. Sherryl stepped in at VERY short notice for a guest who pulled out last minute and did a great job of bringing us a Four Play from the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack album. And not a Timewarp in site!

Track 1: Science Fiction
Track 2: Sweet Transvestite

Track 3: Toucha - Toucha - Touch Me
Track 4: Don't Dream it, Be It

Thanks Sherryl, you were great, as was your Four Play.

You can hear what Sherryl had to say by listening to the podcast here.

Now, to our series of top four selling songs of a year, this week, the start of a new decade. Yes, it's 1990.

Track 1: It must have been Love - Roxette #4
Track 2: U Can't Touch this - MC Hammer#3
Track 3: Vogue - Madonna #2
Track 4: Nothing Compares to You - Sinead O'Connor #1

Track 2: Amazing
Track 3: Loaded
Track 4: The Right Life

Finally tonight, a Four Play on an artist who began their career way back in the 60's who originally came to prominence as one half of the duo, Simon and Garfunkel. Tonight, Paul Simon.

Track 1: 50 Ways to leave your Lover
Track 2: Kodachrome
Track 3: Diamonds on the Souls of her Shoes
Track 4: You can Call me Al

Program Highlights for Tuesday 3rd February, 2009

We started the show with "I Just Wanna Dance" tonight. This song has been fairly popular around JOY, especially in Bridget's Campervan, in the last year. It's actually a Wayne G remix, of a song taken from the London production of "Jerry Springer:The Opera" performed by Alison Jiear. The big news is that the opera is coming to Sydney at the Sydney Opera house at the end of March, but before that, Alison Jiear will be performing live on stage at the 2009 Mardi Gras. Woot! Cam and Chris will be there!

So first the sad news. FOUR PLAY is going OFF THE AIR at the end of the JOY summer season, i.e. at the end of February. It's been a great run of 5 seasons straight, or 15 months on air every week, without fail! We'll be off for at least two seasons, as Jay and Garry are heading overseas during Winter.

It's all good. A community station such JOY94.9 is under some fairly hefty pressures to continually get the balance right between music, information and community and health oriented programming.

As well there are always new ideas for new shows by new volunteers and new ideas by some of the veteran presenters as well. In the interests of keeping things fresh, shows need to move, take a break, or re-invent on a regular basis.

We're not sure if we'll be asked back in the future with the current Four Play format, but in the intervening break, we're going to put our thinking caps on and also see if their isn't something else we might like to try and possibly propose something new in the future. We'll see how that pans out, later in the year.

To this weeks show and first up this week is the last in our series of the top 4 selling singles of a year of the 80's. So of cour
se this week it's 1989.

Track 1: The Look - Roxette #4
Track 2: Love Shack - The B52's #3
Track 3: Eternal Flame - The Bangles #2
Track 4: Like A Prayer - Madonna #1

1989 was a TOP year for music, you'd have to agree!

Stay tuned, for our FINAL THREE SHOWS over February, we'll showcase 1990, 91 and 92. We've taken a sneak preview of the top four songs that feature in those years and there's some more great music to come.

Our guest tonight was Sven. Sven previously brought us the likes of Robyn and Goldfrapp, and tonight, showcased Ladyhawke for us.

Track 1: Magic
Track 2: Paris is Burning

Track 3: Embrace
Track 4: My Delirium

You can hear what Sven had to say about Ladyhawke at the podcast here
.

Running out of time tonight, so for our third and final Four Play tonight, we brought you another icon of the eighties and nineties, R.E.M.

Track 1:Stand
Track 2: Losing My Religion
Track 3: Man on the Moon
Track 4: Everybody hurts

Finally, we took a look at both the ARIA and AIR charts for the week. We've been chatting about Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu's amazing performance in both the mainstream ARIA and independent AIR charts over a number of months and we promise we're going to showcase a bit of his work in the next week or so.

To finish the show, a couple of perennial favorites of ours. Sneaky Sound System's Kansas City and Madonna's Hung Up.

Hope you enjoyed.

Following Four Play throughout February at 11pm, Adam C brings you "Flip the Tape" with his eclectic take on Indie Pop from then and now. And "Flip the Tape" is also getting a daytime gig every Friday from 2pm. If you're a daytime listener at all, make sure you tune in and catch Adam's very different approach to music. And if you want to know more about "Flip the Tape" check out the blog at http://flipthetape949.blogspot.com/

Cheers and have a great week!

Jay and Chris
